One disadvantage of using the LCD screen to line up your shot is the instability of holding the camera away from the somewhat solid surface of your face. I've even seen people shooting with one hand - a very 'shaky' proposition. No wonder they often get blurry shots.
The best solution to this problem is to use a tripod or at least a monopod - but that's not always practical.
The next best solution is to use the viewfinder instead of the LCD screen (saves battery too!).
At the very least, whether using the LCD screen or the viewfinder, use two hands, with your elbows pressed into your sides. Stand with one foot in front of the other to brace yourself, or stand against a wall or tree to reduce camera shake.
